How to Break in a New Pair of Boots

With Fall right around the corner it's important to get yourself into a new pair of cowboy boots and start breaking them in for the colder winter months. So you my ask yourself, "Self, what is the best way to go about breaking in this new pair of boots?"

The way I look at it there are a few ways to break new boots in, one way is to wear the heck out of them and eventually they will conform to your feet but if there was a way to break them in faster wouldn't you want to know? I would! Here are two ways to break in your new cowboy boots that you may not have thought of.

The first method is to take some saddle soap and work it into your boots. The saddle soap will soften the leather and make them easy to get on and off. Start with a small test spot to make sure the saddle soap will not change the color of your leather. Once you have tested, apply a dollop to the uppers, heel and foot of your boots and work it in with a dry cloth. Be sure to buff out all of the remaining saddle soap so you are not left with any residue. Once you are done with the saddle soap buff with a chamois cloth. Saddle soap can also be used to clean your boots.

The next way is to take a hair dryer and heat up the inside of your boots. Once you get your boots warmed up, put them on and wiggle your toes and ankle around. After the boot has cooled back down, repeat. If you do this a few times you will feel the leather begin to soften up and become supple and will mold to your foot. Be careful not to overheat the boots and burn yourself! Also, be aware not over heat the leather because too much heat could cause the leather to become dry.
